I EXERCISE MY RIGHT NOT TO VOTE!

Yeah, it’s actually a right, when you reach the age of 18 in the Philippines, you have the right to vote and the right not to vote. I’ve watched ads and read stuff on the internet that you shouldn’t complain about the government if you didn’t/don’t vote, yes they have a point, I am a Filipino citizen, yes I should vote if I care for my country and I do care for my country, but what’s the sense in voting when the entity that organizes the voting system couldn’t be trusted for so many years? And they even know it that citizens don’t trust them, also the voters know that they can’t be trusted.

Garci tape controversy was the biggest Comelec controversy ever since, but what happened? The time just slipped by and nothing happened, the Comelec commissioner then flee the scene then hides for years then appearing on national television saying he’s not afraid of an investigation, he is ready to undergo a lie detector test, which is not 100% accurate and can be easily bypassed with training. As far as I know that incident was against the law, and is very unprofessional as a President and a Comelec commissioner, what happened to the ombudsman? Or doesn’t Comelec have rules for that scenario?

To my main point why I don’t want to vote, just look at the performance of Comelec now, yeah yeah good thing automated elections, but roughly 7 hours before the election of 2010 officially starts, they are still having problems, yeah yeah it’s the first time for the country to have this automated election thing so it’s okay to have some problems in some places, but NO you’re wrong, it’s not okay, with the track record of Comelec do you really think it is still okay? Firstly it is much more easier to cheat with automated elections rather than the manual voting, secondly why were the preparations late, it should have been 1 month before election day they should have been ready, to my last point the technical team of the Comelec that is in charge of troubleshooting the PCOS machines are incompetent! Based on the news some tech guy of the Comelec doesn’t know how to configure the wireless modem, the cameraman of the news team did configure the modem for that tech guy. Do you really trust you votes to some guys who are easily influenced by people that have power or money?

I would rather spend my time on election day in helping to make sure that we have a clean and peaceful election than wasting my time voting and that too little people are trying to make sure that the elections came clean. I wish for a clean and successful elections this time.

Just got my wordpress fixed in time to post a blog for the New Year, I was trying to fix my site yesterday and it broke, I deleted the database for the blog, because I can’t log in to backup the said database, I used the SSH way to backup, but I didn’t read the instructions carefully so I missed to type in an extra line that didn’t backup the DB. I can’t log in to the site because of a friggin cookie. DAMN, when I already deleted the database that’s when I figure out that I need to delete the cookies. So when I woke up this afternoon I struggled to fix the blog back to it’s old state, it’s a good thing that I searched Google for a cache of the site today, because yesterday when I tried to search for the cache of the site it was dated 16 December, so I lost hope of re-posting the “A Merry Christmas!” blog that was posted on 25 December, good thing Google updated it today and they have the cache dated 26 December! Kudos to Google!

Since it’s New Year we should invoke change, that’s why New Year Resolutions are what we always hear from friends, I proposed to do what I call “Impossible Project” that I derived the title from http://www.the-impossible-project.com/ that reinvented the Polaroid Instant Film and revived it, mine is going to be on a diet and or exercise so that I’d be slim, I really need to do this since my brother is going to get married on October and I’m going to be his best man, therefore I have roughly 10 months for this project to reach it’s goal. You should also think of what change in yourself you could do to make things better for yourself and others. I will also try to do the “365 Project” that became a trend to photographers that started last year but since I didn’t have this site up yet on January this year I decided not to do it, but I was convinced to do it so that I could remember what happened during a certain day next year.

Happy New Year!

But before this year ends ask yourself this list of questions:

  1. What did you do that was worthwhile/productive this year?
  2. What did you learn about life this year?
  3. What changes have you done to be a better person this year?
  4. What are the top 5 bad events that happened to your life this year?
  5. What are the top 5 good events that happened to your life this year?
  6. What are you willing to change in your personality next year?
  7. What do you want to learn next year?
  8. What are the top 5 things you promise to do next year?
  9. What will you share with others next year?
  10. What are the things you want to achieve next year?

Again A Happy New Year to all!
